The owner of the Detvian club, Róbert Ľupták, decided to move the extra-league license to Prešov.

The newly established HC 21 Prešov hockey club will replace HC 07 Detva from the next year's Tipos Extraliga. Ernest Bokroš will continue as headcoach and the team should be based on players from Detva.

Its venue will be the newly renovated winter stadium from September 2021.

"During last months, certain things developed. A month ago I didn't know if I would be playing hockey in Detva, Prešov or Banská Bystrica. Today I'm in Prešov and I'm looking forward to a new challenge. I love hockey and I can sacrifice a lot for it. So far I am the only owner of the club, the city will help me, but I do not resist cooperation with other entities. I want a more professional club" said Ľupták.

"We had great fans in Detva but I believe that we will get five times more in Prešov. I want Detva to get up in hockey again and I would like to give her a helping hand. I can imagine that in the future there could be a farm in Prešov. I'm sorry for the Detva fans who supported us, but hockey is also about finances Presov is a new challenge for me We will play in the renovated stadium, in front of the fans who will be our sixth player. My goals are at least the playoffs" completed Ľupták.

The final point for moving the Detvian club to Prešov will be given by the Slovak Ice Hockey Association, but it should only be a formality.

"The final stamp will be made by the licensing procedure, but it is the right of each club owner to move it to another city. There are certain conditions that need to be met, such as an agreement with a youth club. and coach." said Slovak Federation President Miroslav Šatan.
