Hong Kong won all five games of the 2011 Challenge Cup of Asia in Kuwait to win the cup for the first time.
It was a surprise for many that Hong Kong made it all the way to win the 2011 Challenge Cup of Asia in Kuwait. Favourites for the gold medals were United Arab Emirates and Thailand.
Hong Kong got the key win in already in the first game when UAE was beaten 5-4. Yin Man Chan (2), Yannick Wong (2) and Donald Tse scored the goals.
In the second game Hong Kong faced the other favourite Thailand and won 7-5. Hong Kong was down 3-0 after the first period and 4-2 after the second but still managed to turn the score to a 2-goal win.
India lost all games with a large margin. Also to Hong Kong won won 15-0 on the third day of the tournament.
In the two last games Hong Kong beat Macau 13-0 and the host Kuwait 6-1 to finish the tournament with a perfect record - 5 wins.
Likit Neimwan of Thailand was named best defenseman and Juma Al Dhaheri of United Arab Emirates best forward. there was also an award for Best coach that was won by Dong Yan of Macau.
