USA Smashes Russia 12-3 at Maccabiah

The United States of America have recorded their first victory of the 2017 Maccabiah Games in Israel thanks to a 12-3 win over Russia.

The first period was extremely dominated by the Americans, who scored six of their 12 goals before the first buzzer. Carter Horowitz got the game started with an early goal, who also capitalized on USA's ninth goal. 

Okotoks Oilers' forward Tyler Levine, born in Laguna Beach, was the star of the game with three goals for the Americans. He started it off with USA's third goal of the battle early in the first, before scoring USA's 8th goal late in the second. He'd finish off the battle with a power play goal on USA's 12th marker, the final of the game.

Other goal scorers for USA were Matt Mendelson, Jacob Schechter, Jacob Rivera (x2), Nick Rivera, Max Blitz and Ethan Cohen.

Russia will play their next battle against Israel at 5:00 PM local time on Sunday, with the hosts looking to expand to 2-0 early in the event. USA will meet up with Israel the next day, with hopes of improving to 2-1 before their final game against Germany on Thursday.
