Kazakhstan have won the top division of the 2017 Asian Winter Games thanks to an easy 7-0 win over the hosts from Japan.

Kazakhstan had a perfect 3-0 record, which continued their strong performance after winning the Winter Universiade in early February.  Yaroslav Yevdokimov, who had four points in six games at that tournament, got the fun started on Sunday with a goal just 31 seconds into the contest. It was the first of two goals for Yevdokimov, who, along with Ilya Kovzalov, were the offensive leaders in the eventual 7-0 win.

Kazakhstan was strong out of the gates in the tournament, beating 2018 Olympic hosts South Korea 4-0 to start it all over earlier in the week. Then, two days later, Kazakhstan beat China 8-0 in a game that really put them in a good position heading into the final day, which saw Kazakhstan finish the tournament with 19 goals for and zero against.

South Korea's 10-0 win over China earlier on Sunday helped cap off a silver medal performance for the team that is putting a lot of effort in getting ready for 2018. Japan's win against South Korea gave them the bronze, while China's zero points put them in last after allowing 32 goals and score none.
