U.K. in the Champions Hockey League
The U.K. have only one representative this season, league champion Sheffield Steelers
.
Group P drew Red
Bull Salzburg (AUT), HV71 Jönköping (SWE), Sheffield Steelers (GBR) together.
EC Red Bull Salzburg, the Austrian champions, was drawn out
first. They played 44 games in the EBEL this year coming out with a total of 91
points. Their top scorers were Hughes and Duncan, both Canadians.
They won their first title in 2006/07 and have been
successful twice more.
Out of the second bag came HV71 Jonkoping. The SHL side came
ninth in their league with 75 points. They are four time champions, the most
recent being during season 2009/10. Martin Thornberg, a native of Sweden,
was their top scorer.
That only left one place to fill and Sheffield Steelers, who
were EIHL champions for the second year in succession, took that place. Tyler
Mosienko came out as their top scorer with sixty eight points.
