MOL League: Volán clinches, Debrecen forces game 3

Mol Liga playoffs Sapa Fehervar knocks out Ferencvaros, Debrecen earns another chance with Ujpest

 
 
 
 

Sapa Fehervar-2 - Ferencvaros 7-2
After winning game one in Budapest against Ferencváros Volán had a chance to move sweep the best out of three series as FTC had yet to score a goal in the Fehérvár. Krisztián Budai started in net for Ferencváros with Janis Kalnins in net for the home team. Fehérvár took advantage of the first power play of the day when Mitch Holmberg one timed a pass low from the right faceoff circle. Minutes later Attila Reiter made a nice pass with his back to the goal to Brance Orbán who was standing on the left post and banged it home. The last goal in the period was also scored by Orbán when he took a smooth pass from Shupe and put it past Budai who had no chance. After the third goal Fehérvár goal Ferencváros switched goalies, Olivér Ágoston came in for Budai. In the second period Ferencváros scored their first goal of the game when Nico Suoraniemi came down the left wing all the way to the goal line and fed the puck to Juha Hietamaki who shot it home to make it 3-1. In the second period Ágoston picked up an injury and Budai came back to defend the net. With Volán on the power play Marko Luomala and Gábor Kiss skated in on the shorthanded situation as Kiss set up Luomala to make it a one goal game. In the closing minutes of the period Fehérvár scored twice. First a Gergő Tóth shot bounced off of a defender and into put Volána back up by two goals, less than a minute later Mitch Holmberg skated in on a breakaway, Budai made the initial save but Holmberg put his own rebound in. In closing minutes of the game Fehérvár scored a power play goal as Holmberg completed his hat trick. With the penalties piling up in the closing minute Ferenc Kocsis scored one last goal to set the final at 7-2 as Fehérvár eliminates FTC from the playoffs.


Debrecen - Ujpest 6-2
Debrecen had Kasper Emanuelsson back in the lineup but Bronson Kovács was still out with Ádám Vay serving the first game of his suspension, get the start in net was Savva Borodin. Újpest had József Pleszkán in net. continue reading on icehockey.hu
