The Elite League Challenge Cup tournament in which all teams participate saw Sheffield Steelers become the first team through to the semi final stage.
Steelers achieved this by defeating Fife Flyers over two legs by an aggregate of 7-6. Playing at home (Ice Sheffield in this case) they began with the advantage of a two goal lead after winning in Fife 4-2.
However, Fife came back to win in Sheffield by 4-3 but that was still not enough to secure overall victory. Video
In the other games last night Belfast Giants take a three goal lead back home next week against the Manchester Storm and Braehead Clan clawed four goals back from Nottingham Panthers to only leave them with a one goal defecit in there return leg.
That only leaves league leaders Cardiff Devils who should have a fairly straightforward task against Dundee Stars as they take a three goal lead to Cardiff at the end of the month.
