To illustrate the problems UK ice hockey has competing for ice time we thought we’d share this.
On Friday 23rd October Sheffield Steelers were due to play at Belfast Giants in their SSE arena, a date which had been fixed since July.
However, Liam Payne of One Direction (a boy band) “fell ill” just before their scheduled concert date yesterday. We have learned from other sources he was inebriated.
So, the SSE arena decided to bow to the pressure of 10,000 youngsters to re-arrange the date for this Friday only giving ice hockey fans, who had booked hotels, flights taken time off work, two days notice.
To say the owner of Sheffield Steelers is annoyed as are fans is an understatement.
