Before SHL - Eurohockey presents Örebro HK

The start of 2015/16 SHL season is closing in and for upcoming season, there will be 14 teams competing for the trophy Le Mat. Reigning champions are Växjö Lakers. For the next 14 days, Eurohockey is presenting one team each day. In Part 4. we meet Örebro HK.

Last year was Örebros' second season in SHL and it was a succesful one. After have been forced to play in a negative Playoff as newcomers in 2013/14, the team from Närke region reached 2014/15 quarterfinals. But the reigning champions Växjö Lakers became to hard to meet.

Örebro HK may be the biggest surprise past season as they reached the Playoffs. But the most important thing, is that head coach Kent Johansson got his team to synchronize as just a team. With goalie Julius Hudacek, Martin Johansson and league top scorer Derek Ryan as the leading players, Örebro was succesful.

For upcoming season, Örebro have lost Derek Ryan to Carolina Hurricanes, but replaced him with Jakub Petrulazek. Another exciting player that has joined Örebro, is Julius Hudaceks' brother Libor Hudacek. Other players that have left Örebro, are Jared Aulin, Tomas Skogs, Brian Willsie, Johannes Jönsson, Thomas Enström and Petr Zamorsky.

Other than this, Örebro have their nucleus remained and may be a team to reckon with as they now have experience from two years in SHL. First game for Örebro will be against MODO Hockey on September 17th at Behrn Arena, Örebro, Sweden.
