HV71 won a very difficult game against Red Bull Salzburg yesterday evening. After two scoreless periods, the goals started to tumbling in in the last 20 minutes.
They say that third time is a charm. And it's exactly what it is. Especially for HV71 as they won in the third meeting against Red Bull Salzburg.
After two scoreless periods in a very tight game, Salzburg scored the first goal early in the third. Many HV71 fans choked and thought that the visitors was about to win for a third time. But they was wrong. HV71 came trough and started to play as a team and it didn't take long before Kristoffer Berglund scored the equalizer.
After this, HV71 took over the game and didn't gave Red Bull Salzburg much time with the puck. Erik Christensens individual number, which gave HV71 the lead after 8.20 played in the period change the game totally and Salzburg got frustrated. Something that Konstantin Komarek in an interview after the game confirmed.
The home team played their game with speed, combinations, a strong defense and intensity, but most important of all, they kept their focus on their own gameplay. Remaining scorers for HV71 was Teemu Laine and Simon Önerud. Salzburg scorer was John Hughes.
