HV71 have signed former NHL star Ryan O' Byrne and the contract is signed for two years. -"He's a defensive defender who will give us extra dimension in the physical play," Sporting Director Johan Hult said on HV71's webbsite.
Ryan O´Byrne, 31, is currently coming from Swiss League and Ambri-Piotta. O´Byrne has over 300 NHL-games, but have been playing in Europe the last two years representing Lev Prag and Ambri-Piotta. O' Byrne recorded 39 points in 308 NHL-games divided in 5 goals and 34 assists. So he's not an offensive blueliner.
-”Ryan is a defensive defender who will give us an extra dimension in the physical play. He likes to play very physical and that's something we're going to have a lot of use for," HV71's Sporting Director Johan Hult said to hv71.se.
In NHL, O' Byrne have represented Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs. He will join the team during next week.
