Per Helmersson, captain VIK Västerås Hockey announced his retirement today. After have been skating for the team in Swedish Hockeyallsvenskan for six years, Per have decided to retire.

 
 
 
 

Per Helmersson announced his retirement today on VIK Västerås webbsite. After six years and 274 games in Västerås, Per wants to focus on other things. Among them is his work as a police officer.

Per has skated in 274 games for Västerås in Hockeyallsvenskan and notched 64 points (17 goals and 47 assists). He was also the team captain for the last five seasons. The 32-year old defender started his career in Frölunda J20 and later moved on to Halmstad Hammers, Skellefteå AIK and Växjö Lakers. Helmersson have also represented Team Sweden Juniors (U16-U20 in 61 games.
