Baltic Hockey League at a crossroads

In a game that was expected to be close, a single goal by Denis Hollenstein gave Switzerland 3 points which put them on the third spot in Group A.
Of the last 5 meetings, Switzerland won 4 but this didn't mean that the Swiss would take a walk in the park. 18 shots from both teams meant that Germany and Switzerland were depending on their defense heavily. The first two periods ended goalless, both squads knew how important this game was, the winner would have an advantage in the race for a spot in the quarterfinal. Twelve minutes into the final period the Swiss offense was able to get the attention of 4 Germans and completely left Denis Hollenstein out of sight. He scored on the backhand and gave the Swiss the three points in regulation. Germany tried to come back into the game but goalie Timo Pielmeier in the 58th minute and Nicolai Goc in the last minute made it impossible for the Germans to score the equalizing goal. Switzerland will play the Latvians tomorrow and hope to get revenge for the loss at the Olympic games from Sotchi back in 2014.
