With all 18 games in the preliminary round now completed, the seedings and draw for the elimination rounds of the men's ice hockey tournament at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games have now crystalised.

The top seed is Sweden which went undefeated en route to winning group C, and received automatic passage to the quarterfinals. There, No 1 seed Sweden will face the winner of the qualification round game between No 8 Slovenia which finished third in group A, and No 9 Austria, which finished third in group B.

The No 4 seed is Finland, which finished second in group B, and receives automatic passage to the quarterfinals as the best performed second place team. In that quarterfinal, Finland will face the winner of No 5 seed Russia, which finished second in group A, and No 12 seed Norway, which finished fourth in group B.

The winners of these two sections would play each other in the semifinal on the top half of the draw, with the winner advancing to the gold medal game, and the loser relegated to the bronze medal game.

In the bottom half of the draw, No 3 seed Canada, the winner of group B, also received automatic entry into the quarterfinals. There it will face the winner of No 6 seed Switzerland, the second place team in group C, and No 11 seed Latvia, the fourth place team in group C. Switzerland and Latvia previously faced off on the opening night of play, a game in which Switzerland eked out a 1-0 victory by scoring with eight seconds left in regulation time.

The No 2 seed is the United States, which won all three of its preliminary round games to finish first in group A. In the quarterfinals, USA will face the winner of No 7 seed Czech Republic, which finished third in group C, and No 10 seed Slovakia, which finished fourth in group A.

The winners of these two sections would play each other in the semifinal on the bottom half of the draw, with the winner advancing to the gold medal game, and the loser relegated to the bronze medal game.
