Canada feel the pressure but want to leave Sochi with another gold
Canada arrived in Sochi as gold medalist and all the team is aware of the pressure that entails but all are motivated and ready. In the press conference coach Claude Julien stresses the importance of a good start: "We want to be as good as we can from the first game. we have seen from Canadian teams in the past that they get better as they play together. Today was a "teaching day" for us. We want to keep the tempo in our practice. The guys had a really good appreciation of what we have to do. We are feeling our way through so that when the pucks drop for the first time, we are comfortable on ice". Julien confirmed Canada won't change its style of play due to the bigger rink: "we will adapt, we will play in North American style".
Shea Weber, Patrice Bergeron and Patrick Marleau
Patrick Marleau said that he does not care with whom to play in the final: "A final with Russia? I think it would be great to play for the gold medal with any team.Especially if we will meet with the Russian team, our opponent will receive the full support of the crowds. Will be cheering for them no less fiercely than Canadians rooting for us four years ago".
Patrice Bergeron: We had a long flight. We left North America on Sunday for lunch and arrived on Monday. But staff helped us to deal with fatigue and jet lag.Within a few hours after arrival at the venue of the Olympic Games, we went to the gym. Now only two days separate us from the first match.I am sure we will be prepared to start properly. Of course, we are expected to gold. And we have set very high goals. We want to repeat the experience of victory in Vancouver.
Shea Weber: The team that comes together quickest and has the chemistry will come out on top. In the summer we had some initiatives. We got to know the guys and made videos. Now we are using that stuff.
