Canada got a comfortable win over Germany in the opening game of the World U20 Championship in Malmö, Sweden.

Anthony Mantha of Val dOr Foreurs scored three goals to lead Canada to a 7-2 win over Germany in Malmö Isstadion. Close to 1,900 fans, mostly Canadians, also saw Josh Anderson, Bo Horvat, Sam Reinhart and Nic Petan score for the Canadian side.

"The fans were unbelievable tonight," said Bo Horvat after the game.

But it was Germany who opened the scoring. Dorian Saeftel beat Jake Paterson in the Canadian net after less than two minutes of play. The first period saw six goals and ended with a 4-2 lead for the Canadians. Canada then added another two goals in the second period and one in the last.
