When Mike Grey skates onto the ice Friday night, then it is for the impressive 800th time for the same club - Frederikshavn. This allows Mike Grey to write his name into the history books as the first Danish player ever to have played 800 games as a first team player.
"It is a unique record. I'm really grateful that Mike has been marketing our sport so well for so many years" says DIU-President, Henrik Bach Nielsen.
The 35-year veteran got his league debut in 1992 and is just now starting his 19th season as a first team player in Frederikshavn. He has won one Danish league title and 2 cup titles.
The Frederikshavn forward has also played more than 150 games on the Danish national team and has been playing in 7 World Championships.
Mike Grey will play his fight number 800 when Frederikshavn White Hawks on Friday evening meets EfB hockey in AL-Bank Ligaen.
And Mike Grey’s record looks to expand. He is considering another season in the Frederikshavn jersey.
