Canada runs over Switzerlandd. Wins also for Russia, USA and Sweden.

 
 
 
 

Russia secured a quarter final spot by beating the Czech Republic 3-1. It was a close game but Russia took the lead already at 3:22 by Lebedeva and never lost it. Krizova put the Czechs on the score board in the second period for 2-1 but Russia held on to the lead and Burina made it 3-1 shorthanded with five minutes left of the game.

USA killed the game against Finland in the first period scoring four goals on ten shots on goal for a 4-1 lead. Monique Lamourex scored twice and was the best player of the game. Finland's star Karvinen made it 4-2 early in the second but USA was in full control and no more goals were scored.

Sweden needed overtime to win against Germany despite 33-11 in shots. Germany was strong in the first period and took a 2-0 lead after goals by Götz and Seiler. After that it was all about Sweden and Germany only had four shots on target during the last 40 minutes. Lisa Johansson scored twice to tie the game before Winberg scored the game winner in overtime. Sweden now have to trust Germany to beat the Czechs to qualify for the quarter finals.

In the last game of the day Canada demolished Switzerland and won 13-0. Canada had an incredible 79 shots on goal and Anthamatten made 54 saves before she was relieved after 0-10. Marie-Philip Poulin scored four goals and added one assist. Jenner scored twice.
