After earlier doubts Yanick Lehoux now will return to Södertälje in Swedish Elitserien after all. The club earlier announced the signing on their homepage but later removed the news item as there was no agreement with the former club Ambri Piotta. All American Hockey League (AAHL) has announced that the Indiana Blizzard have ceased operations, effective immediately. 27 Dec 2010, 16:22 | Sokil Kyiv bus vandalized in Grodno

Unknowns severely damaged the bus of Sokil Kyiv, parked at hotel in Grodno, before the game against local team for Belarus Open League. Because of this episode the team arrived late at the rink. The hotel administration offered to reimburse the cost of repairs. Sokil lost the game 4-1 and continue to be affected by economic troubles: \\\"We suffered irreparable human losses, and those who came in their place have skills to compete in championship of Ukraine, not at this level\\\", coach Aleksandr Seukand commented.

Canada won the important game against Russia (6-3) in the opening round of the WJC. The game was tied 3-3 after two periods but Canada secured the win with three unanswered goals in the third. Boxscore here

As expected Sweden won the Nordic derby against Norway. 7-1 was the final score, boxscore here.

A brilliant first period was enough for Switzerland to beat Germany in the WJC opener. The final score was 4-3 after the Swiss had a 4-0 lead after the first period. The annual Spengler Cup has started in Vaillant Arena in Davos, Switzerland. SKA St.Petersburg beat Geneve-Servette 3-1 in the opening game. The line with Aleksei Yashin (2+1), Maksim Sushinsky (0+3) and Tony Mårtensson (1+2) scored all three goals for the winners. Davos-Spartak Moskva ended 4-2. Reto Von Arx scored the first two Swiss goals and then added two assists.
