Czech Extraliga Benzina Litvinov appointed Vladimir Kýhos as new coach after the mutual agreed resignement of former head coach Robert Reichel. Assistant coach Jiri Kucera remains in charge.
Kyhos, 55 years old, began the season as coach of 1. Liga HC Tabor and signs until end of the season with an option for next one.

Tomáš Závorka, goaltender of HC Energie Karlovy Vary was pulled from the net after 3:17 of play of the Czech Extraliga game in Vítkovice. The Vítkovice forwards scored on the first two shots on net and the young goaltender left his place on the ice for Lukáš Sáblík.

31 year-old Traktor Chelyabinsk forward Konstantyn Kasyanchuk was elected 2010 Ukrainian player of the year by a jury formed by journalists, coaches and players. With 74 points he precedes Vadim Shakhraichuk (Sokil Kyiv - 62 points) and Yunost Minsk forward Aleksandr Materukhin (51 points).

Two veterans made incredible things on Sunday in the Czech Tipsport Extraleague. Petr Nedved of Bili Tygri Liberec and Petr Ton of Sparta Prague both scored shorthanded goals - three on five.
This was the first time since the 1993/94 season when Czech extraleague was born, that two shorthanded goals in three on five were scored on the same day.
Petr Nedved is 39 and Petr Ton is 37.

Russian hockey Federation announced the LG Hockey Games match Russia - Finland will be held in Mytischi Arena on February 10th. The tournament, part of the Euro Hockey Tour, will be played from 10th to 13th of February at the Stockholm Globe Arena.
The Russian B team will play in Odense (DEN) from the 9th to the 12th of February, at the Energi Danmark Challenge, part of the European Tournament Challenge versus the hosts and France.
