After 2 months at the bench of Dizel Penza, head coach Sergei Ivanov resigned today."When I arrived, I realized the team was in a psychological crisis, but hoped to rectify the situation. With my regret, I was not able to stabilize the team play, and therefore decided to resign as head coach. I want to thank for the cooperation with the administration, coaching staff and players", declares Ivanov, appointed in early December to replace fired Victor Korolev. New coach is Viktor Bogatyrev, who was until now coaching the 2nd team.

Riku-Petteri Lehtonen is no longer the head coach of TPS Turku in the SM-Liiga. Last in the league, TPS announced Jukka Koivu as new head coach, while Seppo Suoraniemi has been appointed assistant coach, replacing Antti Aalto.
Koivu - father of Anaheim Ducks Saku and Minnesota Wild Mikko - was previously TPS coach between 2003 and 2005.

Czech Extraliga Benzina Litvinov appointed Vladimir Kýhos as new coach after the mutual agreed resignement of former head coach Robert Reichel. Assistant coach Jiri Kucera remains in charge.
Kyhos, 55 years old, began the season as coach of 1. Liga HC Tabor and signs until end of the season with an option for next one.

Tomáš Závorka, goaltender of HC Energie Karlovy Vary was pulled from the net after 3:17 of play of the Czech Extraliga game in Vítkovice. The Vítkovice forwards scored on the first two shots on net and the young goaltender left his place on the ice for Lukáš Sáblík.

31 year-old Traktor Chelyabinsk forward Konstantyn Kasyanchuk was elected 2010 Ukrainian player of the year by a jury formed by journalists, coaches and players. With 74 points he precedes Vadim Shakhraichuk (Sokil Kyiv - 62 points) and Yunost Minsk forward Aleksandr Materukhin (51 points).

Mexico and Serbia are promoted to the 2012 IIHF World U20 Championship Div. II after finishing first and second in Div III in Mexico City. The home team beat Serbia 4-2 in the final game to win the tournament.
