Two NHL players - Matt Cooke and Anton Volchenkov - will face disciplinary hearings today. The Pittsburgh Penguins forward Cooke has been called for his hit from behind on Fedor Tyutin during the game against Columbus; the defenceman of New Jersey Devils Volchenkov should give an explanation of his elbow foul to the Zach Boychuk's head during the game against Carolina.

The NHL former team Jets leaved the city of Winnipeg in 1996 and was moved to Phoenix where is playing for 14 years now as the Coyotes. The club is in the league ownership now and the NHL commissionaire Gary Bettman avows with his interest for a fast selling of the club, what was saved ahead of abolition after the club's bancruptcy.
The NHL already had a buyer - the owner of the BlackBerry company Jim Basilie would like to buy the club last year, but the civil court cancelled this deal. The league is still seeking for new buyer and also the speculations regarding the possibility of moving back the club to Winnipeg are louder and louder. Regarding backstage voices the NHL could be played in Winnipeg from the next season.

The Slovak Ice Hockey Federation announced, that goaltender Július Hudáček (HC Košice) won't join the Slovak national team for the upcoming Slovakia Cup. Slovak Head Coach Glen Hanlon decided to give the chance only to Lašák and Hamerlík, but the doors to the national team aren't closed for Hudáček in the future. Regarding his words, he just want to see other goalies, from this reason there will be no substitute for Hudáček in the team.

Russia beat Belarus 1-0 in the final of the Universiade. The Captain Sergei Salnikov scored the goal. Canada beat Kazakhstan 3-1 in the Bronze Medal Game.

This NHL's season 2010/2011 has filled up the nineth hundred of the players. The milestone 900th player of this season is Marc-Andre Bergeron. Bergeron played in Montréal during the last season but after that he has got no NHL contract and he was playing for Tampa Bay's farm team Norfolk Admirals, but yesterday he played in the NHL again, for Tampa Bay against St. Louis.

Just seven days have passed since the NHL All Stars Weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA and the World record for the hardest shot was broken. Last week's record, Zdeno Chára's 170.4kmph(105.9mph) is now the second hardest in the history, because Denis Kulyash shot a 177.58kmph(110.343mph) fast projectile on the net during the KHL All Stars Game in St. Petersburgh. Team Jagr defeated Team Yashin 18-16 (5-5,4-7,9-4) in the KHL All-Star Game in St. Petersburg. Jaromir Jagr scored 3 goals and 2 assists whil Aleksei Yashin scored once but added five assists. Best scorer of the game was Tam Yashin´s Sergei Mozyakin with 5 goals and 2 assists.

The SM-Liiga game between Jokerit and HIFK was played outdoors at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium before 36,644 fans. HIFK won 4-3 after two goals by Mikael Granlund.
