Dukla Trencin got a shootout win against Slovan Bratislava in the Slovak Extraliga Quarter Finals to get its first win of the series, while Bratislava has 3. Jan Pardavy got the game winner. In the other Slovak Quarter Final series the standings are: Kosice-Nitra 3-1, Poprad-Skalica 2-2 and Ban. Bystrica-Zvolen 2-2.

The Federal Hockey League announces the eighth member of the league, the Green Mountain Rock Crushers as an expansion franchise for the 2011-12 season. The Rock Crushers will play at the Ice Haus Arena at Jay Peak Resort.
The Green Mountain Rock Crushers will be the state's first ever professional hockey team in Vermont. The team begins play in late October 2011 for the sophomore season

Two clear favourites of Czech second division - 1. liga - have succesfully passed the first playoff hurdle. Chomutov beat Hradec Kralove 4-1 while Usti nad Labem came from 1-2 down in the series to down Vrchlabi 4-2. Other semifinalists are Jihlava, beating Znojmo 4-2, and Havlickuv Brod knocking out Olomouc 4-2, as well. Semifinals Usti - H. Brod and Chomutov - Jihlava begin on 5th March.

While Jaca easily walked over Majadahonda scoring 11 goals and advancing to the finals, a real battle occurred in Barcelona between the home team (victorious in first game) and Puigcerdà. On Saturday the visitors snatched an important victory despite support by a very good crowd and a comeback in the last period. A goal by Juan Brabo with less than 2 minutes before the overtime sent Puigcerdà to game 3, on Sunday again in Barcelona due to better placement in regular season. This time blau-grana didn't waste the second home matchball, equalizing twice Puigcerdà´s advantage and closing the question at 57:02 with Ramon Morer. Jaca dominated the season and is the favourite for the title, but Barcelona showed to have tools to face the Pyrenean team.

All the top ranked teams, KAC Klagenfur, Red Bulls Salzburg, Vienna Capitals and VSV Villach won the first quarter final round in the playoff of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. One game went to overtime, Brent Aubin scored the game winner when the Red Bulls defeated Olimpija Ljubljana 5-4.

South Korean Anyang Halla won 2-1 today to take a 2-0 lead in the Asia League semi final series against Oji Eagles of Japan. Both Korean goals were scored by Alex Kim.
The other semi final series between the two Japanese teams Nippon Paper Cranes and Tohoku Freeblades is now tied at 1 after Cranes´ 6-2 win today. Daisuke Obara scored 3 goals for the winners.

Valpellice Bulldogs made a real feat in playoffs quarter finals game #5: with a small roster and a coach fired last month from Serie A2, Valpellice advances to the semi finals for the first time ever in its history knocking out super favourite Renon, finalist in the last 3 consecutive seasons. A stellar performance by goalie Kevin Regan and a fighting spirit by Iannone and Nikiforuk made a miracle. More than 500 fans followed the team in Collalbo from Torre Pellice. Now Bulldogs will face another favourite, regular season winner Val Pusteria, closing easily, as expected, its pair versus Alleghe winning 2-1 in game 5. Same path for champion Asiago, knocking out Fassa in five games and now facing Bolzano in an intriguing semi final.

In both today´s semi finals of the Asia League the lower ranked away team won.
Tohoku Freeblades defeated Nippon Paper Cranes 7-3 and the only Korean team of the playoffs, Anyang Halla, beat regular season winners Oji Eagles 4-3.

88 year old deputy Alcide Berloffa died friday after an illness. He was the president of HC Bolzano from 1960 to 1964, in charge when Bolzano won its first title in 1963
