In the only playoffs quarter finals series still opened, Shakhtar destroyed opponent Gomel with an undisputable 9-2, despite Gomel opening the score with captain Oleg Antonenko. Home team reversed score still in first period and close the match in the second with a 4-0 partial. Interesting Shakhtar scored with nine different players.
Semifinals starting on march 13 are now set: Shakhtar Soligorsk - Yunost Minsk (last season final) and Neman Grodno - Metallurg Zhlobin

The IIHF Council - the federation's 13-member executive body - has confirmed that the ice hockey tournaments (men's and women's) at the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia 2014 will be played on international-sized rinks measuring 60 metres by 30 metres, as opposed to the North American (60 x 26).

Viktor Fasth made 34 saves for the shutout when AIK defeated HV71 3-0 and now leads the quarter final series 2-0. The league winners HV71 put som pressure on AIK in the last period but Fasth were unbeatable and with one minute left AIK scored on the empty net. Boxscore.

One round of the regular season remains of the Finnish SM-Liiga. JYP will win the standings. It is still not decided whether Ässät or HIFK will get the second place. Also interesting is the battle between Jokerit and HPK for the important sixth place. As number six you don't have to play the qualification round for the Quarter Finals.

The last round will be played on Thursday.

When the Elitserien playoff started AIK chocked HV71 on away ice by scoring four goals in the second period. After a goalless first period AIK scored three goals in six minutes. In the last period HV took over the game completly but it was to late and AIK won 4-2. Game details.

The fourth Quarter Final game between HDD TILIA Olimpija Ljubljana and EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga today was cancelled as. The reason was that the safety for the away players from the home fans couldn't be guaranteed. A meeting will be held on Monday to decided how to handle the cancelled game.

Slavia and Litvinov succeeded in a play-off qualification phase of Tipsport extraliga by overcoming Karlovy Vary (3-2) and Plzen (3-1), respectively. They have therefore joined six other teams in the quarterfinal phase. The pairings are as follows: Trinec - Litvinov, Liberec - Slavia, Vitkovice - C. Budejovice and Zlin - Pardubice.

Today was decided which four teams will play the Semi Finals of the Latvian Championship. All top seeded teams won their series 2-0. HK Ozolniemi/Monarch beat  HS Riga/LSPA (16-0 and 17-2), Metalurgs Liepaja beat HS Prizma Riga (12-0 and 3-0), SMS Credit beat JLSS Zemgale (4-1 and 3-0) and DHK Latgale beat Energija Elektrenai (4-1 and 5-0). In today's game Energija-Latgale, Energija was awarded a technical loss (5-0) because they didn't have playable ice in the arena.
