Game recap

Belfast Giants made it a four-point weekend with their second win over Fife Flyers in as many nights, coming away from Kirkcaldy with a 5-2 victory on Sunday.

“It was a tough road game, in a building we lost in the last time we came here,” said Giants forward Marcus Eriksson. “We knew it would be a hard game. It was tight, but we finished it off strongly in the third to take the points.”

Eriksson opened the scoring for the visitors at 6:27, but Fife responded just over two minutes later through Didrik Svendsen. The sides remained level at the end of the second period, with Ethan Somoza’s goal cancelling out Scott Conway’s effort to make it 2-2 after 40 minutes.

The Giants took control in the third. Ryan Smith and Nicholas Guay struck within 90 seconds of each other to give Belfast a two-goal cushion, before Conway added his second of the game with just over five minutes remaining to seal the win.

“It’s the first time I’m playing outside of Sweden, so there have been a lot of new things to adapt to and figure out,” added Eriksson. “I think I’m improving here over the last few weeks, and hopefully we can continue like this and keep winning as a team.”
