Game recap

Glasgow Clan edged out the Cardiff Devils 3-2 at Braehead Arena in a hard-fought contest on Friday night.

Glasgow struck twice in quick succession early in the second period to take control of the game. At 23:47, Jason Fram opened the scoring on a play where Ben Bowns appeared to be knocked over. The goal was initially ruled out on the ice, but after a coach’s challenge from Corey Neilson for no goalie interference, the officials overturned the call, ruling that the contact had been caused by a Cardiff defender.

Just under two minutes later, Deven Sideroff doubled the Clan’s lead at 25:22.

Cardiff responded late in the middle period. Skating 5-on-3 after Paul Thompson used his timeout to draw up a play, Joey Martin fired home at 35:45 to pull the Devils back into the game at 2-1.

Early in the third, Glasgow restored their two-goal cushion. At 45:23 Brett Neumann walked into the slot unmarked and finished off a feed from Brayden Burke to make it 3-1.

The Devils pushed late and pulled Bowns for the extra attacker, eventually getting one back through Brett Perlini with 1:56 remaining. However, they could not find an equaliser, and their Scottish triple-header began with defeat.
