Game recap

The first quarter-final to get underway as the Clan hosted the Steelers in Leg 1 action on a Friday night.

It would only take five minutes for the Clan to take the lead at home. Mitchell Heard would pounce on a bouncing puck at the Steelers blue line and would find the five-hole of Greenfield to make it 1-0 Clan.

Both the rest of the first period and the whole of the second period would be scoreless thanks to a number of huge saves by both netminders.

But it wouldn’t take long into the third for the Clan to double their lead. Mitchell Heard would again find himself on the breakaway and he would make no mistake. Post to back bar, which would be reviewed by the officials, would be good enough to make it 2-0.

The Steelers would respond through Ciampini with not long left. A turnover in the slot would give Ciampini the room to step and pick his spot to make it 2-1.

But with just under a minute left, the Clan would extend their lead into leg 2. Heard with a spin pass to find the tape of Berry who would slip it through the legs of Greenfield.

All to play for in leg 2, but it is the Clan with the 3-1 advantage.
