Game recap

Dundee Stars became the only team to log four-points over the Christmas period with a 7-2 win over local rivals Fife Flyers, coming from behind to do so in front of just shy of a sell-out crowed of 2,469 fans on Tayside.

Spencer Naas scored his first goal of the season at 04:17 to open the period scoring. Brendan Harms sent the puck to the net, where Naas was waiting to tip it past Shane Owen. Kieran Craig equalised for the visitors at 07:32, taking the puck away in the offensive zone and scoring on the resulting breakaway for his first goal of the season.  Patrick Kyte gave the Flyers their first lead of the night on the power-play at 10:02, sending a shot from the point through traffic to beat Jarrett Fiske.

Philippe Sanche levelled the score at 26:48, sending a wrist shot from the top of the right circle past the blocker of Shane Owen to make it 2-2.

Olivier LeBlanc received a game misconduct penalty for slashing at 31:42 following a video review, resulting in a five-minute powerplay for the Stars. Despite this the Flyers penalty kill stood strong, denying the home team any solid scoring opportunities.

Kyle Pouncy skated the puck deep into the Fife zone, and sent a pass from behind the net to the stick of Kameron Kielly. The Canadian then beat Owen from close range at 35:50, making it 3-2 heading into the third period.

Brendan Harms scored his fifth goal in three games to give the Stars a two goal lead on the power-play at 43:49. Jake Elmer sent a shot from the right wing to the net, where Harms was waiting to send the rebound past Owen. Drydn Dow scored the second powerplay goal of the period for the Stars, blasting the puck from the blue line past Owen at 45:15.

A takeaway in the neutral zone by Alex Robert allowed Craig Garrigan to breakaway, backhanding the puck past the Fife goaltender extend the Stars lead at 49:01; while a slapshot from Ben O’Connor in the high slot was initially saved by Owen, however Spencer Naas was first to the rebound and slipped the puck into the net for his second of the night at 54:29.
