Game recap

Guildford finally broke their Scottish curse and recorded a road win north of the border for the first time this season with a three-goal victory over the Fife Flyers in Kirkcaldy.

The Flames opened the scoring with only their fourth goal in Scotland this season after three previous road trips. Jordan Cownie fired home from a sharp angle from John Dunbar's pass for a well-taken first of the game at 13:02.

In period two, the visitors extended their lead to take full control of the game. Brett Ferguson snuck a shot in low after good build-up play in the offensive zone for a powerplay goal at 25:15, with Mike Crocock getting his first for the Flames at 29:18.

Michael McNicholas got the hosts on the board 2:34 into period three, but any slim hopes of a fightback were extinguished when John Dunbar scored the visitors' final goal of the game at 47:53.

The win was Guildford's first in the league since 5 December and helped keep them fifth overall.
