Game recap

The Sheffield Steelers have a one-goal lead from the first leg of their Semi-Final with the Manchester Storm after an entertaining game at the Motorpoint Arena.

The impressive Max Fortier got his first of the night with 8:04 played, and in a period where the Storm arguably had the better of the play they would have been disappointed to concede with 71 seconds remaining as Sam Jones converted for Sheffield.

Tanner Eberle put the Steelers ahead 1:40 into period two, only for Fortier to capitalise on a Kevin Schulze mistake to score on the breakaway just over four minutes later. Sondre Olden put Sheffield back ahead at 32:22 on a nice rush, and when Jérémy Beaudry scored four minutes later the Steelers were up by two. However, but Fortier levelled the scores at 38:17 with another snipe to complete his hat-trick and bring it back to a one-goal game.

Eberle got his second of the game to make it 5-3 at 49:19, but Manchester got themselves back to within one again through Jacob Lundell Noer with 9:20 to play.

It ended 5-4 to the Steelers ensuring that everything is to play for when the sides meet again on Thursday!
