Goals and assists
A perfect weekend for Sheffield saw the Steelers back up their win in Cardiff by beating defending league champions Belfast in Yorkshire.
On an early man-advantage, the Steelers made no mistake taking the lead - Ben Lake blocked the initial shot buy Marek Trončinský was on hand to put in the loose puck at 2:13 for the game's opening goal. Jordan Smotherman levelled on a Giants' powerplay with a shot from the blueline that went through a screen, but Tanner Eberle gave Sheffield the lead back at 15:15 on a powerplay for the Steelers.
The only goal of the middle frame proved to be crucial as Michael Davies fired home at the back post to give the Giants a bigger mountain to climb in the third. With just under five minutes to go in the game Bobby Farnham was guilting of missing on a 2-on-1 and the Giants were made to pay when James Bettauer found the empty-net with 1:56 remaining on the clock.
