Game recap

For the fifth time this season, Fife and Nottingham finished level after 60 minutes – on this occasion however, as the first leg of a playoff series, there was no overtime or shootout to decide a winner. That will come on Sunday afternoon at the Motorpoint Arena.

Fife certainly had the better start in this game, racing into a two-goal lead thanks to Bari McKenzie at 3:01 and followed by Joe Basaraba at 9:17. Chris Stewart pulled one back for the Panthers at 11:33, but they were back two behind just shy of the 17-minute mark as Mike Cazzola struck for the Flyers. An eventful opening period still however had one more goal to come, Dylan Richard pulling the Panthers again back to within one with 2:13 left to play in the opening 20 minutes.

There were no goals in the middle period, and just the lone marker in the third – Brett Perlini ensured the sides will start level at the beginning of tomorrow’s game after tying things up with 5:56 to play.
