Game recap

A late Jake Morissette goal settled an eleven-goal thriller in Wales on the Devils’ Pride Night.

Coventry lead after 20 minutes, Shawn Pauley’s goal at 8:05 the only difference between the teams. The Devils were level 2:18 into the middle period through Mike Hedden, but 29 seconds later the visitors were back in front thanks to Ben Lake. An excellent spell for the Blaze continued as Tim Crowder scored at 23:10 to put the visitors two ahead. Just under 25 minutes into the period Joey Martin Converted for 2-3, and Martin struck again at 35:08 to bring the Devils level. Gleason Fournier looked to have given the hosts the end of period lead with his goal at 37:49, but Lake found the net again at 38:55 to bring the scores back level.

Cardiff took the lead for the first time in the game with Mike Hedden’s goal 4:12 into the final period, but it took Chris Joyaux and the Blaze just 69 seconds to tie it up again. The winner came 2:01 from the end of period three – Morissette scoring shorthanded to take the points for the Devils late on.
