Game recap

Guildford Flames got their first win in three with a one-goal victory over Dundee.

John Dunbar’s goal after 1:58 separated the teams after 20 minutes, with Evan Janssen doubling the visitors’ lead 25 seconds into period two. TJ Foster made it three with 24:18 played, before Jordan Abt took the Flames’ lead out to four just past the halfway mark. When Jamie Crooks made it 5-0 at 32:55 the Flames looked to be heading for a comfortable win.

Matt Marquardt got the hosts on the scoreboard with just under three minutes left in the middle period to cut the deficit back to 1-5 after 40 minutes.

Two quick goals at the beginning of the third made things interesting – Fabrizio Ricci after 27 seconds, followed by Connor Cox at 41:44 brought the Stars back to within two. When Brian Hart then scored at 45:50 the Stars were just one behind, but that was where the scoring stopped. The Flames survived a late penalty to hold on to a 5-4 win and keep themselves in sixth.
