Game recap

Fife Flyers stayed solid in fourth overall in the Elite Ice Hockey League table with a last-minute winner over MK Lightning.

With Lightning’s starting goalie Patrick Killeen not icing the visitors’ looked to Adam Goss to try and backstop them to a much-needed road win. The visitors would have been disappointed to not be ahead after 20 minutes, having taken the lead at both 6:14 and 17:42 only to be pegged back. Croatian international Ivan Sijan opened the scoring, but Paul Crowder hit the Flyers’ equaliser just over four minutes later. Georgs Golovkovs then re-established the Lightning’s lead, but this time it took Jordan Buesa only 26 seconds to hit the home side’s response.

Radek Meidl then put the Lightning ahead for the third time in the game just before the 25-minute mark which they held into the break, however Evan Bloodoff needed only 3:08 in the final period to bring Fife level at three each.

MK had a great chance to win the game on a late powerplay, but in fact the worst happened for them – Carl Finucci scored for the Flyers shorthanded with 39 seconds left to steal the two points for the home side.
