In a repeat of the last play off final in 2019, Cardiff became the winners of the Championship trophy for the third season in a row
This game was ultimately decided by the fact that Cardiff succeeded in negating the threat of the dangerous top line of Belfast wheras the line of Reid/Coughler and Sanford ran riot for the away side.
The game got off to a fast start and after the first 6 minutes Cole Sanford then Coughler opened up a two goal lead for Cardiff.
But just a couple of minutes later, Scott Conway took advantage of the powerplay to cut the defect to one goal.
Into the second period and this fast paced game exploded as Lake tied things up for Belfast after just five minutes.
The game was end to end but just twenty seconds from the end Cardiff took the lead again as Dixon slotted home after a pass from Cox.
Predictably Cardiff attempted to play a more defensive game especially when after 2 minutes of the final period they opened up a two goal lead when Brodie Reid collected a pass from Waller to score on the break out.
But with just ten minutes left a long range effort from Murphy was tipped past Mac Carruth by Soy to bring Belfast back within a goal.
However Cardiff kept things tight and two empty net goals made things much easier for the team and their supporters.
