Not many international championships are played this season but one of the few is the World Under-18 Championship that started in Texas, USA yesterday.

The U18 Worlds is played in Frisco, Texas this season. In 2020, due to covid-19, the championship wasn't played. Reigning champion from 2019 is Sweden who then beat Russia in the final after 3 goals by Lucas Raymond. Sweden started this year's tournament with a 5-1 win over Belarus.

In the other early game Czech Republic beat the new-comer Germany 3-1.

Russia - USA was a wild game where the Americans had a 5-1 lead in the second period but Russia managed to come back and win 7-6 in overtime on a goal by Nikita Chibrikov.

Switzerland got a very important 4-2 win against Latvia, much thanks to the goaltending of Kevin Pasche.

Today also Canada and Finland will enter the tournament.
