Hecquefeuille takes France to the next stage

France beat Belarus in overtime to continue to play for the quarter final spots and avoid the relegation round.
Kevin Hecquefeuille was all alone between the circles at 46 seconds of the overtime when Stephane da Costa who was behind the net found him with a pass. Hecquefeuille’s shot beat Andrei Mezin in the net and sends Belarus to the relegation round.
France had the lead for most of the game. Sacha Treille scored 1-0 at 12:35 when he deflected a shot by Hecquefeuille.
The second period was scoreless. The Belarusian equalizer came with 4:28 remaining of regulation when Sergei Demagin scored on Cristobal Huet. Huet made 37 saves tonight; 21 of them in the third period.
Seven minutes before the tier Belarus got a penalty shot, but Andrei Stas failed to score.
