EHT: Sweden and Russia both win 4-2

The home team lost on the final day of Czech Hockey Games but still won the tournament.
Denis Zaripov was the man of the day for Russia when they defeated Finland 4-2. Zaripov made both 2-1 and 3-2 in the second period and assisted on 4-2 in an even game where the last goal was empty netter. Vitali Atyushov and Aleksei Tereschenko scored the other two Russians goal and the super star Morozov had two assists. Mikko Mäenpää and Anssi Salmela scored for Finland in a game that saw a big fight in the third period. Evgeny Artyukhin and Tuomo Ruutu was sent off with game misconducts and eight minor penalties were also handed out.
After losing two games Sweden got an important self confidence rising win for the upcoming WC beating the Czechs on their home ice. Daniel Fernholm gave Sweden the lead but goals by Lukas Krajicek and Jaromir Jagr turned the game around. But an early power play goal by Martin Thörnberg and a close range effort by Loui Eriksson turned the game around in the second. And halfway through the third period Robert Nilsson scored the 4-2 that also was the final score.
The Czechs won the tournament before Russia, both on six points, Finland placed third and Sweden last both on three points. In the total EHT standings Russia won with 27 points, Sweden placed second with 20, Finland third with 13 and Czech Republic last with 12.
