It means, that Czech fans will be witnesses of a fight for the league title between two big rivals from the Moravia-Silesian region, the first mutual league finals in the league history, the finals between two teams from the industrial cities of steel.
Game Seven (Fri, Apr 1):
Třinec – Slavia P. 5:2 (1:0, 3:0, 1:2)Třinec came into the game in a big style and after just 47 seconds of play took the lead after Květoň’s goal. The Steelers wanted to keep its adversary under the pressure, but an enthusiasm of the home team entailed in a few penalties and power plays for Slavia in the rest of the first period.
But Slavia wasn’t able to use any of them, on the contrary, the first Třinec’s power play on the start of the second period was used by Zíb’s slapshot from the blue line. Another 40 seconds passed, and another defenseman of the Steelers scored a goal: This time Lukáš Krajíček was the lucky goal-scorer. When Lukáš Zíb scored his second goal in the game after three minutes later in another power play, the Slavia goaltender Miroslav Kopřiva left the net for young Dominik Furch.
Furch was resisting until the end of the second period, but it was caused by the fact, that Třinec aimed on the defensive part of a play and didn’t continue with offensive maneuvers and the period ended with a score of 4-0.
The last period started merrily for Slavia. In the 43rd minute Michal Vondrka hewed new hope for the away team and sow seeds of uncertainty into the Třinec players heads, because they still can remember well the first game in the series when Třinec also was in the four-goals lead but, Slavia was in contact before the end of a game thanks to three fast goals in the third period.
The Steelers banished the uncertainty with a fifth goal in power play during the 51st minute (3rd PP goal in the game) and the difference between both teams was insuperable again.
Slavia scored once again six minutes before the end, but no final pressure has come later – Slavia had to defense during the last tens of seconds of the game because of a penalty and Třinec’s fans has started with big celebrations - celebrations of the second advancement into the league finals in the club’s history.
The first one is dated on 1998, when Třinec lost the final series against Vsetín and reached the silver medals – the biggest success in the club’s history.
The interesting point of the game is never-ending procutivity of Martin Růžička: Today he didn’t score any goal, but he was assisting on the fifth Třinec goal leastways and tied Žigmund Pálffy’s record from 1992, when Pálffy reached 26 individual points during the playoffs (18+8).
Until today, Růžička has scored 26 points for 14 goals and 12 assists and he can improve his statistics during the finals against Vítkovice from just 25 kilometers far Ostrava.
The final series will start on Monday, Apr 4 and Tuesday, Apr 5 with two Třinec home games. Later, after two days off, the two revenges are planned in ČEZ Aréna, Ostrava.
