Ak Bars Kazan was the first team to qualify for the KHL finals. Sibir Novosibirsk was beaten 1-0 in overtime in game five to give Ak Bars a 4-1 win in the series.
Once again it was a close game between Ak Bars and Sibir, and once again the Swedish Kazan goalie Anders Nilsson earned a shutout. His third of the series and his sixth of the playoffs.
After 66:22 without a goal we finally got one when Mikhail Glukhov got the puck at the left boards, crossed the circle and put it high close to the first post to beat Alexander Salak in Sibir's net.
For Sibir the season is now over but reaching the Conference final is the best ever record for Andrei Skabelka's team. Who Ak Bars gets to play in the finals is not yet decided. CSKA Moscow leads the other semi final series 3-2 over SKA St. Petersburg.
