Spartak Moscow has been having financial problems since last autumn. Club was unable neither to pay off its current debts nor to provide guaranties in order to participate in the next KHL season. Thus, Spartak will miss next season.

KHL vice-president Dmitry Kurbatov confirmed this in his interview: "It is for sure that Spartak won't take part in next KHL season. His junior team, however, will be in MHL. Currently we are projecting schedule for the league of 28 teams."
