Hungary were superior to everyone else at the U20 World Championship Division II Group A and proceed to the next stage, while Croatia will suffer their five defeats with the relegation to Group B of the same division.
Five games, five wins. That's how the hosts of the U20 IIHF World Championship played home in Miskolc. Facing Lithuania, Holland, Estonia, Romania and Croatia, they were victorious in all five clashes to secure the win in the tournament and promotion to the Division I Group B stage next year.
The Hungarians rallied over the rest of the group scoring at least 5 goals in every game and allowing only 1, except against the Netherlands when they conceeded twice.
They ranked highest in scoring efficiency with 15.67% scoring 34 goals on 217 shots. Holland were second with 12.36%. Also they were the best powerplay team of the tournament scoring 11 goals on 24 opportunities with the man up. Not to mention penalty killing where they kept their record the highest possible with 82.61%. Also their netminders kept the record clean and were first in that section as well.
Daniel Bogdziul of Lithuania led the points overall with 15 (5+10), while Vilmos Gallo of Hungary scored 7 goals, most of all.
Lithuania finished second with 11 points, while the Netherlands were third with 10. Croatia was relegated with no wins and no points in five games.
