Third period performance ensures team USA the win over France. David Moss scored the game-winner at 53:23. In the end at 58:32 Yorick Treille scored the consolidation goal for France.
The game at Hartwall Arena started good for team USA. After two powerplays in which they didn't score, at 07:08 Stephen Gionta, on the assist from Matt Carle brings the USA the lead. Bobby Butler added another one at 17:37 to finish the first period. Asissts came from Tim Stapleton and Drew LeBlanc.
Aside from Treille's goal at the end, France scored another one in the second period. At 28:24, Kevin Hecquefeuille took advantage of the 5-on-3 opportunity. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare returned the pass and recorded an assist. In a span of 43 seconds the USA had two great opportunities, neither of them going into the net.
At 37:52 a goal was scored but the net also came loose. The referees decided to disallow it after watching the replay.
Two quick goals for team USA and the performance in the last period earned them the win. At 51:37 Paul Stastny was the first on a deflected shot from Craig Smith and scores.
At 53:23 the USA finally scores on the powerplay, David Moss was the lucky scorer who tipped the puck in. It was later proven the game-winning goal.
In hindsight, the USA deserved to win the game, outshooting their opponents 36-17.
David Moss was proclaimed the best player for team USA, while Antoine Roussel earned the same title on the French side.
