The team from Moscow also beat newcomers Slovan Bratislava

For CSKA Moscow the 4-1 win again Slovan Bratislava was already their 5th consecutive win. The favourites started well into the match and their top star Alexander Radulov scored the first goal from a center position already at 04:13 after Sergei Shirokov had made a well-placed pass from the left wing. In the following time the hosts let out several power plays. On the other side Slovan showed them how to do it better and Michal Vondrka scored the equalizer at 32:06 - at this point a real surprise. The goal itself also was rather a strange one. Vondrka tried it with a one-timer from a half right position that first hit the back of Ilya Bryzgalov and then entered the net!

At the begin of the third period Slovan lost one of their best players. Martin Stajnoch was in the middle of a check but missed his opponent and then jumped into the boards. Apparently he suffered a bad shoulder injury and he was immediately transported out of the arena by medical staff. This seemed to affect Slovan because they lacked concentration afterwards and had to see how Vladimir Zharkov and Mikhail Gravosky with their double decided the match within just one and a half minutes. At 58:08 Patrick Davis even used a shot from the line to fire the puck into the upper left corner and to score the final 4-1.
