Sweden still unbeaten after impressive 6-3 win against Czech Republic. Switzerland wins key game against Slovakia to secure a spot in the next round.

Sweden defeated Czech Republic 6-3 after a solid performance and will now face Canada in a group final on New Years Eve. The Czechs came out good with a power play goal for the lead but Sweden took over and played a very good power play and turned the game around with the man advantage. And when one of Sweden's best players Jesper Fasth made it 3-1 after a face off Sweden had full control of the game.

And when Fasth added his second goal and Sweden's third power play goal Sweden had 5-1 and it looked like another thrashing like last year when Sweden won 10-1. But the Swedes took some bad penalties and the Czechs with super talent Martin Frk (born 1993) stepped up and closed the gap to 5-3 with two goals.

The Czechs had som chances for a fourth but Sweden's man of the match Calle Järnkrok made it 6-3 five minutes into the third period. 6-3 was the final score a very well deserved victory for Sweden who was the stronger team.

In the other early game of the day Switzerland took an important win in the Group A game against Slovakia. The Swiss was in the driver seat for most of the game and had the lead both 3-1 and 4-2.

But the Slovaks came back and Richard Panik made it 4-4 with eight minutes left to play but only two minutes later Samuel Walser scored the game winner. Slovakia pulled the goalie to try to tie the game but instead Inti Pestoni found the open net and made the final score 6-4.

The win qualifies Switzerland for the quarter finals while Slovakia most likely will miss out on the second round.
