Berlin takes lead in DEL finals

Game #1 a close home win for the regular season champions

Eisbären Berlin - Adler Mannheim 2:0

14,200 fans came to a sold out O2 World in Berlin to support their respective teams. In the fight between the two DEL record champions (both have won 5 titles each) both sides played how you have to in a final series but the goalies Rob Zeep and Fred Brathwaite played at the highest level and didn't allow a goal in the first two periods. This changed early in the third when Barry Tallackson made a good pass from the left wing and Danish international Mads Christensen deflected the puck through the legs of Brathwaite with his skates for the 1-0 lead in favour of Berlin - after the video review the goal was given as there was no distinct kicking motion.  In the middle of the third it was Richie Regeher who extended the home lead in a power play. His shot from the blue line went into the right corner as Christensen made Brathwaite not see the puck by standing in front of him. In the last one and a half minutes Mannheim pulled out their goalie but without success.

Berlin leads 1-0 in the series
