TPS Turku out of playoffs in SM-liiga
Series between the two top clubs TPS and Kärpät already decided
Playoffs time became very short this spring for TPS Turku. In wild card
round they lost at home on Sunday to Kärpät Oulu by 1-2. As the first
game on Saturday was also won by Kärpät, TPS now is out of this best-of-three
series.
Sunday's game was a very close one and also many penalties were given
including one major penalty for Kärpät's Ivan Huml. In the third period
TPS scored their only goal already after 25 seconds so there was plenty
of time left to get it even, but Kärpät goalie Johan Backlund and also
bad luck (crossbar in the last minute) prevented TPS from scoring the tying goal and the
season was over. Kärpät in the quarterfinals will face Pelicans Lahti.
Second wild card series Blues-Lukko is now even with one win each after
Lukko won Sunday's game 2-0. Deciding game will be played on Tuesday in
Espoo.
