Barys beats Riga 6-5 in a hard battle. Traktor wins prestige meeting with SKA.

 
 
 
 
Barys 6-5SO Dinamo Riga
Barys was ahead for four times but could only win in shootout series.  After a goalless first period in the second the teams scored five goals! At 24:04a free Andrey Gavrilin scored after a pass from Talgat Zhailaulov. Brandon Bochenski with a wrist shot increased the Barys lead. 1:12 was needed for Riga to tie the game. Roberts Bukarts and Gints Meja with a breakaway did it. At 35:18 Jiri Novotny won a faceoff and Lukas Kaspar with a one-timer made it 3-2. Early in the third Girts Ankipans tied the game after a mistake from Yevgeny Fadeyev. A minute later Kevin Dallman returned the lead for Barys. Then Dallman gave Riga a penalty shot chance which wasn’t used by Krisjanis Redlihs. At 52:54 Marcel Hossa made it 4-4, 55 seconds later Dallman again returned the lead for his team. With 1:33 to play in the third Janis Sprukts tied the game, in the shootout series two accurate shots by Roman Starchenko and Nigel Dawes led Barys to a hard win over Dinamo Riga.

Avtomobilist 3-2SO Atlant
In Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist who don’t need nothing in this season beat Atlant. The main game actions happened in the second. Janne Niskala with a rebound play opened the scoring at 25:14. Denis Kazionov fed up a pass to Andrei Shepelenko who tied the game at 34:33. 20 seconds later Nikolai Zherdev returned Atlant to the lead but only for a minute cause Denis Osipov with a powerful slap shot tied the game at 36:09. The game was decided only in a shootout series where Denis Abdullin helped Avtomobilist to make their home fans happy.

Traktor 3-1 SKA
In the battle of the conference leaders Traktor overplayed SKA 3-1. SKA grabbed a lead early in the second when Viktor Tikhonov redirected the puck in front of the net after a shot from Dmitry Kalinin to beat Traktor goalie Michael Garnett in power-play. Traktor returned into the game with Yevgeny Kuznetsov who scored twice in the third. The first time he did with a wrist shot in power-play, next time on a delayed penalty. Petri Kontiola with an empty-net goal finished the game at 59:21.

CSKA 4-1 Neftekhimik
CSKA after a bad ending of the year 2011, at the start of the new managed to make a 3 games winning streak which was extended this night. At 03:54 CSKA opened the scoring with a Petr Caslava goal, former Neftekhimik players Niklas Persson and Yevgeny Ryasensky assisted in this play. CSKA only increased their lead and in the middle of the third it reached 4-goals. Sergei Shirokov, Niklas Persson shorthanded and Alexey Yashin in power-play scored. Stanislav Zhmakin received a pass behind the net and scored the lonely Neftekhimik goal at 53:07.

Dinamo Minsk 1-2SO Ak Bars
In Minsk Ak Bars beat local Dinamo in a shootout series. At 08:27 Konstantin Korneyev with a pass from Niko Kapanen and Alexei Morozov opened the scoring. Dinamo tied the game 20 minutes later Geoff Platt fed up a nice pass to Daniel Corso whose shot beat Ak Bars goalie Petri Vehanen. In the shootout series an accurate shot by Jarkko Immonen led the Kazan team to a victory in Belarus. Vehanen stopped 27 shots in regulations and overtime and 2 penalty shots in the shootout series.
