Avangard Omsk suffered their first defeat of the season after losing to Amur Khabarovsk in a thrilling shootout in front of a packed home crowd. Despite Avangard's early dominance and a two-goal lead, Amur fought back to force overtime and eventually secured the win in the shootout.
The game started well for Avangard, with Ilya Reinhardt opening the scoring just one minute into the match. Avangard continued to control the play throughout the first period, and at 12:00, they doubled their lead when Darren Dietz scored on the power play, assisted by Alexey Makeyev.
Amur struggled early on, managing only three shots on goal in the opening period. The second period saw a shift in momentum as Amur regrouped, with Devin Brosseau coming close, hitting the post early. Amur's persistence paid off in the third period, where Brosseau scored twice, first at 52:19 to make it 2-1, and again with less than a minute left in regulation to tie the game.
Neither team could score in overtime. In the shootout, Amur's Jan Drozg scored the winning goal after Stanislav Galiev had tied the shootout at 1-1. Avangard's Linden Vey and Alexey Makeyev both missed, while Igor Bobkov stood tall in Amur's net, securing the win.
