The action kicked off fast, with Vityaz establishing early dominance. Derek Barach scored the opening goal on the power play at 3:14, assisted by Frédérick Gauthier and Ivan Chekhovich. Moments later, Gauthier added another at 4:12, making it 2-0. Sochi fought back with a goal from Jesse Graham at 4:56, but Vityaz responded with two more, including Barach's second of the night and Alexander Daryin's goal, closing the period at 4-1.
Sochi narrowed the deficit to 4-2 through Denis Vengryzhanovsky's goal in the 30th minute. Despite multiple penalties, both teams' defenses held firm, and the second period ended 4-2.
The final period saw a flurry of action. Sergey Popov scored for Sochi at 42:35, making it 4-3. Barach completed his hat-trick at 49:04, giving Vityaz a 5-3 lead. Sochi's Artyom Tyanulin responded with a power-play goal at 57:10, but despite pulling their goalie for an extra skater, Sochi couldn't find the equalizer.
